Please follow these general instructions to prolong the life of your new 100% human hair extensions.
Brushing - Always hold extensions at the root area when brushing to avoid unnecessary tension on the roots and bonds. Brush hair using a soft bristle brush as this will slide over the bonds. Begin brushing the ends of the hair in downwards strokes moving up the hair until finally reaching the root area and brushing gently from the root through to the ends. Never comb or brush in between the extension bond and the scalp as this will result in extensions coming out.
Washing - Before washing, detangle hair from ends working your way up to the roots. Carefully wash hair with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. Wash hair in the shower keeping the hair in a downward flow, wet thoroughly and apply a generous amount of shampoo. Massage the shampoo gently at the scalp area and stroke down the hair to the tips. Do not rub or twist the hair as this will cause tangling. Rinse thoroughly and gently squeeze out excess water. A mild shampoo is required for shampooing.
Conditioning - Apply conditioner through the mid-lengths to the ends of the hair. Never apply conditioner to the root area and the bonds as this will result in the extensions slipping out. Stroke the conditioner into the hair in downward movements and leave the conditioner on the hair for the required time, then rinse thoroughly. Gently squeeze hair to remove excess water.
After Washing - Gently pat wet hair with a towel to remove excess water without rubbing it. Gently comb through, separate extensions at the root area before drying, making sure each one is hanging separate from its neighbouring connection. This ensures that the bonds do not stick together.
Drying - Blow-drying Straight - Using a cool setting on your dryer, tip your head forward and dry the root area, once the root area is dry, turn your head the right way up. Using a warm or hot setting, blow-dry the hair section by section. Hold each section of hair over a soft bristle brush and direct the blow dryer down the hair shaft to the ends. Scrunch drying - Tip your head upside down, using a cool setting on the dryer, dry the root area first. Keeping your head upside down, turn up the heat setting and hold hair into a diffuser. When just about dry, turn your head up straight and scrunch with your fingers for the finishing touches. Allow to dry naturally when possible.
Sleeping - When sleeping, gently plait the hair or tie in a soft band to prevent tangling. Never sleep on wet hair and always make sure hair is completely dry before going to bed.
General Wear - Do not apply unnecessary tension to the bond and root areas by tying ponytails too tight. Wash your hair after exercise, swimming etc. It is recommended to wear your hair up or in a ponytail when you swim or exercise. Please note, excessive pulling or picking of extensions may result in extensions coming out and your own hair breaking off. It is very common to lose strands of hair when brushing and you can also expect to lose some of the extensions.
By making sure you take the correct care of your hair extensions and by following these guidelines, your hair extensions should last approx., 12 weeks for Pre-Bonded and Hot Glue (Fusion), 8-12 weeks for Micro Rings and upto 6-8 weeks for Shrink Tubes. After this period, the extensions will need to removed professionally. Do not pull or pick out extensions as this will result in damaging your own hair.
